Key Objective: Reporting to the VP, First Party Claims Manager, this role is responsible for providing leadership and technical oversight of a high performing team of Commercial and Personal Line Claim Examiners. The successful candidate will be responsible for the team’s delivery of best in class service and a high degree of technical acumen on behalf our clients and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • The candidate must be both service-oriented and results-driven, possessing excellent leadership, technical and organizational skills
  • Ability to oversee and drive team actions to recognize exposure, complete thorough investigations, confirm coverage and ultimately resolve claims within company best practices
  • Highly proficient in performance management, training and staff development
  • Candidate must be able to make timely and independent decisions within company best practices
  • Must be an articulate communicator who is interested in helping others achieve corporate and personal objectives
  • Strong knowledge of companies systems, procedures, claims handling philosophy and claims handling requirements are necessary
  • Ability to manage business relationships with internal and external customers, as well as investigate and resolve disputes in a fair and equitable manner
  • Comfortable reviewing and interpreting personal and commercial insurance contracts, investigation techniques, legal requirements, and insurance regulations
  • Recognize and pursue recovery
  • Adhere to all statutory and regulatory fair claims practices

Requirements

  • 8 years + of handling property claims including complex commercial claims
  • Prior Supervisory and/or Management experience with direct oversight of direct reports handling Property claims
  • Experience managing both in office and remote staff is desirable
  • Education level with a degree or equivalent work experience is required
  • CIP, CRM and/or FCIP Industry designations would be an asset
